What Must I Do
To Be Saved?

Here are the steps from God's Word, the Bible, that all must take to be saved...

Acknowledge Your Sin

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23

First, see yourself for what you are...a sinner. Sin is tragic, vile...it blights, degrades, destroys. It has dire consequences: "The soul who sins is the one who will die." "For the wages of ... Read more »

A Sermon by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., edited for today by Charles Henderson

At the center of the Christian faith is the conviction that there is a God of power who is able to do exceedingly abundant things in nature and in history. This conviction is stressed over and over again in the Old and New Testaments. The God whom we worship is not a weak and incompetent God. God is able to beat back gigantic waves of opposition and to bring low prodigious mountains of evil. This ringing testimony of the Christian faith is that God is able.

There are those who seek to convince us that only humanity is able. Their attempts to substitute a human centered universe for a God centered universe is not new. It had its modern beginnings in the Renaissance and subsequently in the Ag ... Read more »

When I was a child I went through a lot. I suffered a lot of emotional trauma. By the time I was a teenager I felt like I had been a victim and I did what I thought was fighting back. What I didn’t realize then that the things I was doing were only furthering my trauma, and eventually would ruin my life!

I started to rebel (fight back) at the age of 12, and nobody taught me or disciplined me. My mother would yell and scream about what not to do but there wasn’t any teaching going on. I started to drink and smoke. I cursed, lied, s ... Read more »

The economic downturn has affected millions of Americans. Many families are forced to stand in lines just to make ends meets.

With the holidays fast approaching, these families will quickly go from struggling to get by to full out panic. If they can’t afford to pay rent or utilities, they certainly can’t afford a holiday feast or presents. And they can just picture the disappointment on their children’s faces.

That’s why Feed The Children -- in partnership with Dr. Tabor -- is working hard to keep its Americans Feeding Americans caravan going strong this holiday season.

Friday October 15
One of the most extraordinary events recorded in the New Testament took place on the Day of Pentecost. We read the remarkable details in the book of Acts, chapter 2.
In Acts 1, the resurrected Savior met with his disciples just before he was taken up into heaven. Jesus told them they would soon receive power from the Holy Spirit to go into the world and be his witnesses. Luke 24:49 records the Lord's instructions: "I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."

A few days later, the disciples were all together in Jerusalem when the strange events began. A violent wind brought tongues of fire to rest on their heads. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in other tongues. Then Peter preached a powerful message to the crowds gathered for the Feast of Pentecost, and the Bible says the people "were cut to the heart." An astounding 3000 Jews and converts to Judaism re ... Wow! I was beginning to wonder if I would ever get this done! Here it is folks... my testimony! It's not very elaborate, and there's probably a few grammatical mistakes in it, but it's me proclaiming just a little of what the Lord has done for me in my life... And, this is only the beginning! The Lord has saved both my mother and me from a car wreck, and numerous other situations. He's even helped me through those times I'd just want to give up, lay down, and cry my heart out.. but He was there with me when no one else knew how I was feeling, or wasn't there with me. Isn't the Lord WONDERFUL! *smiles* He knows our hearts, what we're thinking and feeling all of the time. I really don't know what my life would be like without Him (And, it's a scary thought, let me tell you!) Okay.. I've chattered long enough! On with the story....

Ever since I was a child I had gone to church. On Sunday mornings, when I was about 5 or 6 years old, I would attend with my grandmother at the church of C ... Read more »

I used to read the Bible casually like many people. From this, I learned great maxims and their moral lessons -- knowledge that helped shape my values in life, and my interaction with other people. That is how the Bible found its place in my little library. Occasionally, I also use some verses to defend my religious beliefs. A sample of this is the summary of all the commandments and words of God into a simple: "Love God...love my fellowmen."

The Bible as a casual reading material, however, provoked doubts in my mind. This is when I read what Christ told a Scribe (in Mark 12:29) who asked Him, "Which is the first (greatest) commandment of all?" Jesus answered: "The first (greatest) commandment is: Hear, O Israel, THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD." Then Jesus began enumerating "Love God...Love your neighbor..." (Mark 12:30-31). I have not heard that first (greatest) commandment from my religious leaders before. Questions began bothering my mind about the "ONE LORD AND ONE GOD," whose re ... Read more »

I have a story that I really don't remember, but it certainly has effected me for a long time to come .When I was born, I was almost a month premature. I was only about five pounds, but lost down to barely four. I had quite a few little things that made me sick, but the main problem was that I was born with a hole in my heart. The doctors told my parents that I wouldn't live over a few weeks, and if I did, I wouldn't live past seven or eight years old. My parents took me to a few heart doctors and got the same response from all of them. My parents have always been very spiritual, and faithful to GOD. They took me to the little country church, that they are still attending, and done as the bible says. They had everyone that knew how to pray to come and lay hands on me. They took me back to my next appointment, and when the doctor came out he told them that the hole had "grown up". He may have thought it grew up, but me and my family know what really happened. I slightly surpassed the do ... Read more »

When I was 15 years old I became very depressed and unhappy with my life. My parents had divorced when I was 12 and my mom had gotten remarried to a man who had 3 children that lived with us. The marriage only lasted a year and they got a divorce. After this it was just my mom, me and my sister. My mom had started dating and went out on the weekends. I would usually go out with my friends. I really didn't have a reason to commit suicide, now that I think back on what led me to make that decision. I wasn't as popular as I wanted to be and my best friend was becoming popular and getting all the attention from the guys. She had a boyfriend and I didn't. I had started smoking and drinking. This made me more depressed. On the day I decided to commit suicide, I had been out with a friend. I had a terrible time and started thinking about suicide. We had met these two guys that we knew and they said they would take us home. We had all been drinking that night but I didn't know the guy who was ... Read more »
